Preface  

At the outset let me thank all the esteemed faculty, delegates and all the office bearers of Indian Chest Society and National College of Chest Physicians for making NAPCON Varanasi a highly successful and a memorable meeting. As you all know, for centuries Kashi or Varanasi has been a seat for learning and spirituality. In Mark Twain’s own words, Kashi is older than history, older than tradition, and even older than legend. Keeping in line with heritage of this holy city, this conference provided a robust platform for scientific deliberations, interactions, and learning for all delegates.

In the last decade or so, clinical medicine has witnessed a rapid stride forward. The profile of patients and presentation of the disease is changing fast. Accordingly, every practitioner has the need to be continuously updated with the latest developments and advances. Given the magnitude of the NAPCON 2021 scientific program, it would have been impossible for delegates to attend all the sessions held concurrently in several halls. Therefore, this Highlights of NAPCON publication has been prepared so as to provide delegates a understanding of the scientific proceedings of this conference, which will immensely contribute towards their quest for continuous learning.
Keeping in mind the busy schedule of readers who are pulmonologists, a presenter wise wrap-up of all important talks have been featured in this book so that readers are able to understand the essence of this meeting by merely flipping a page.

We will consider our efforts as fulfilled, if this book proves useful to our delegates even in a small way towards updating their clinical knowledge and I firmly believe that this publication will find an important place in your personal library.
